(FOUR) AMERICAN BAD ASS
In execution the song kind of sucks. It’s a good “arena rock” song. It’s a good hype video for a movie or a product, but as a song it is fairly void of substance. I still enjoyed it more times than not. What got me hooked was when WWF’s Undertaker started using it for his entrance theme for a short stint. In that kind of world, it’s a perfect song. I just don’t think it’d ever make a mix CD or playlist unless I was being a smart ass or something. Still, I’m certain Rock has made a mint off the licensing so good on him.
(THREE) COWBOY
It’s like the singles slowly built up. We got the one, then Bullgod, then Bawitdaba and finally this. And then the world exploded. The peak of Kid Rock’s fame and acclaim is easily around the time the Cowboy single came out. It was just a cool party song and still is I suppose.
(TWO) BAWITDABA
Cowboy was the track that knocked down the walls, but it was this doozy that got the buzz going strong. I remember hearing this song for the first time only for my head to explode. It’s been well over 10 years since it was released and it’s still a damn fun song.
(ONE) I AM THE BULLGOD
My favorite Kid Rock song has always been Bullgod. It’s just what I like. Of the four major singles from “Devil Without a Cause” (Cowboy, Bawitdaba, Bullgod, and Only God Knows Why), it seemed to be the edgiest of the bunch.
