(FOUR) WILD BILL
There are so many movies with Jeff Bridges that rock. Instead of going with an official sounding list that goes by accolades and all that, I’m going with favorites. One of my favorites is the 1995 Western titled “Wild Bill”. It’s a really underrated flick. I don’t think I’ve seen it in at least ten years, but my memories of it are still very fond. To be honest, I think this may have been the first time I had noticed how bad ass and awesome Mr. Bridges was. Yeah, I was late in the game but in 1995 I was still only around 12, so it’s okay enough.
(THREE) CRAZY HEART
I don’t get what happened here. The movie was heralded as greatness last award season, but I’ve not heard anyone mention it anywhere in a long time. I just don’t think enough people saw this one. I’m not a fan of country music at all, but Bridges rocks it here. He plays a grizzly old country singer who’s best days and fame are far behind him. He tours shitty dive bar to shitty dive bar playing the same old songs over and over. Most of the time his character is drunk, but his charm, deep down innocence, and grit made for a great character and movie. Seriously, check this one out.
(TWO) THE FISHER KING
I’m not going to lie. I didn’t see this 1991 dramady until years afterwards. I’m pretty sure it was the number one on this list that sparked my curiosity about this one to begin with. Jeff plays a shock jock radio host who is pretty much a douche bag. He’s entertaining, but a douche bag nonetheless. He takes on the task of helping out and befriending a homeless man in search of some kind of redemption. It’s a great flick.
(ONE) THE BIG LEBOWSKI
In 1998 the world was blessed with one of the best movies of all time. The Big Lebowski is what most people are going to associate with Bridges for as long as weed, colleges, and good taste as in supply. In this movie Bridges plays “The Dude” Jeff Lebowski. He gets caught up in a whole crazy situation just in attempt to get a new rug that was pissed on by some bad guys after a horrible case of mistaken identity. If you enjoy to laugh, this is a movie you need to see. It has everything you could ever want in a movie including boobs, bowling, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, and Flea. See it. See it now!
