(FOUR) WASTE OF LYNCH
Everyone, fans and non fans alike, can agree on one thing. Jane Lynch is awesome. I’ve been a fan since her Christopher Guest stuff. She was great in “For Your Consideration”, she was great in “Rolemodels”, great in “40 Year Old Virgin”, and even great in her role in “Criminal Minds”. I’m a little upset that she had to leave “Party Down” too. Sure the show only lasted one more season without her, but it would have been great for her to be there for more than the finale. She’s hilarious and should not be confined to the regulations of network television.
(THREE) TEENAGE SEXUALITY
There are some gay kids on the show. Good for them. My issue is that whenever anyone from the show talks about the show, they can’t help but mention sexuality. It’s cool they want kids to be okay with themselves, but it’s becoming a gimmick. Flat out. You don’t hear anyone ever talk about how it’s “okay to be straight”. Yeah, that’s “the norm” to many… but so what? I never wanted to watch Glee in the first place, but I’m more interested in shows that are topical and good because of its content rather than the sexuality of who is cast or not.
(TWO) IRONIC HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
I didn’t watch High School Musical, but I guess I can be man enough to say I respect those movies more than Glee. These movies were made by Disney for kids and kids enjoyed them. Glee pretty much took the same concept of a comedic drama set in a high school with lots of singing. It’s like if the “I Love The…” crews of VH1 got together with the High School Musical people and decided to make a snarky TV version.
(ONE) TOP 40 SUCKS
It all comes down to the fact that they don’t sing original songs. With Glee, it’s basically karaoke of the Top 40 past and present. If I wanted to watch people sing other people’s songs I’d watch American Idol. That’s not going to happen. If I wanted to hear someone lame sing a Britney Spears song then I’d listen to Britney Spears sing it. It’s NOT Saved By The Bell… why would I want to watch ANY other High School comedy? ZACK ATTACK FOREVER!
