"4 Bands You Should Already Know V.4"

(FOUR) WHITE ZOMBIE
Do you hide from metal because it’s all growl and there’s no melody? I don’t blame you. Yet there are still some options out there. Before Rob Zombie started making movies featuring his hot ass wife, he was in the band White Zombie. The guitar riffs and melodies of a few of their songs are iconic and I’m SURE you’ve heard them. Listen to Thunderkiss or More Human and tell me White Zombie does not rock. If you dig those, dig deeper. Their albums are so underrated it should be criminal. Industrial metal… yay!

(THREE) STREET SWEEPER SOCIAL CLUB
One album and an EP is all you can get your hands on at the moment, but I highly suggest doing so on both accounts. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys open for Nine Inch Nails in 2009. They impressed greatly. We have Tom Morello, the guitar wizard from Rage Against the Machine with the swagger-fied frontman Boots Riley. Trust me in the fact that these two work very well together. Their self titled album has some pretty great tunes on it and their EP has covers of MIA’s “Paper Plans” and LL’s “Mama Said Knock You Out”. You want this.

(TWO) MUSE
If you enjoy rock and roll then this is a band you should have in your collection. They put out some albums and got some critical buzz and an underground following. Then with 2006’s “Black Holes and Revelations”, they hit it LARGE. “Knights of Cydonia”, “Supermassive Black Hole”, “Map of the Problematique”, and the rest of the album is what classic rock albums are made of. Their next one, not so much, but their track record speaks volumes. Get their cover of “Feeling Good” and their 2006 album and you’d be good to go. But keep an ear out, they’re bound to rock again soon.

(ONE) PRINCE
If you don’t know the magic that is Prince then you have no right to own ears… or a face… or life! Prince is one of the greatest musicians and performers of all time. I know he’s a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and gets his props from time to time, but I really feel he’s even bigger than credited. His influence is clear as day and his style, mystique, and craftsmanship is undeniable. His greatest hits include “When Doves Cry”, “Purple Rain”, “Party Like It’s 1999”, “Raspberry Beret”, and about nine dozen others. Because of his connection to pop music and his weird reputation people are sometimes off put by him, but he’s without a doubt one of the best guitar players living or dead in music. Stop being lame and accept this.
