(FOUR) A PERFECT GETAWAY
I didn’t expect much from this movie. I’m a fan of those involved. With Steve Zahn, Milla Jovovich, Keile Sanchez, and Timothy Olyphant involved I was down. I’m a sucker for camping thrillers. I remember one where Mark Paul-Zack Morris-ler was a crazy guy. There was on where I think Kevin Bacon was the crazy guy. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen about a dozen more. Can’t remember any of them, but I’m sure I enjoyed them all. In this one we get the nervousness of Zahn and Jovovich in dealing with who they assume are killers on the loose. It’s one of those thriller mysteries that you watch once, get the plot and then twice to go “ah-ha” and then you forget forever. Oh yeah, there was that one with Shelly Long and the girl scouts.
(THREE) CATCH AND RELEASE
So he now plays a guy whose friend just died. Blah Blah Blah, he hooks up with his dead friend’s lady. Throw on some romantic comedy stank and a great supporting performance by Kevin Smith and you get this movie. On the surface it’s not that good. And hell, with all of it’s depth it’s not that good. Never the less, it’s a good movie and it’s enjoyable. There are way worse movies to spend time with. Olyphant does well here.
(TWO) GO
I could have went with his action movie stuff, but screw that. To me, Timothy Olyphant rocks most when he’s being a sleazy asshole. In Go he plays a crazy drug dealer who takes a girls friend as collateral for most of the movie. He’s a drug dealer who has to chase after some dumb kids to get his due money. He is the bad guy, I suppose.
(ONE) THE GIRL NEXT DOOR
There is just something about Emile Hirsch that rubs me the wrong way. He has good taste in roles and ends in a lot of movies I’ve enjoyed over the years. I just can’t get behind him. In this movie, I enjoy all of the support way too much to ignore it. Elisha Cuthbert is in it and plays a porn star turned good girl. She moves in next door to this high school guy and he falls for her. They hang out and all is cool until her former porn producer shows up. Olyphant is that porn producer. He plays it so awesome. He’s sleazy, but he’s like a sleazy Mr. Miagi for most of it. It was this movie that made me think that Timothy Olyphant was awesome and then he had to go out and prove me right.
