(FOUR) ZOOLANDER
In this, Ben Stiller gets most of the credit. Then whatever is left trickles down to Will Ferrell. But then the little tiny bit that’s left should go to Owen Wilson. In any other movie, Owen Wilson’s “Hansel” character would have been really outrageous and poster worthy, but Stiller and Ferrell are just that awesome.
(THREE) WEDDING CRASHERS
I guess you could call him the straight man in this movie to Vince Vaughn, but I think they pretty much switched off back and forth. This is one of those “modern classics” that’s going to always be replayed on television. It’s not great, but it’s good enough to always be enjoyable. It’s like Friday, Brewsters Millions, and The Golden Child… not the best, but just embedded into basic cable movie station’s line ups and no one is complaining. I’m not.
(TWO) THE ROYAL TENEBAUMS
In all honesty, I could have made this list completely Wes Anderson related and not missed a beat, but I decided to include a few others. But first, let’s talk about the one put a few people on and back on the map. Owen Wilson plays the outsider within a family in this movie. It’s a really awkward role to play, but he managed to pull it off with a relatable comfort.
(ONE) THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU
This was rough because I debated about which of his Wes Anderson collaborations was his best and pretty much all of them made a great case. I’m just partial to this movie. The awesomeness of Bill Murray made everyone in this movie look their best. Because of this, I had to give this movie the nod for the best. In it Owen plays a guy who thinks the famous oceanographer Steve Zissou(Murray) is his father. Hilarity and awesomeness ensues. It may drag at a point, but I don’t know anyone to watch this movie and not find enjoyment in it. In art it’s pretty rare occasion to be able to get a unanimous decision. This is one of those rare occasions.
