(FOUR) BAD JOKES
It amazes me that this man has made millions of dollars and has convinced the world that he is funny base off of the same shtick he’s been doing for years. He talks fast and switches his silly voices over and over. It was funny as a cartoon character, but over thirty or so years it’s gotten really stale and pretty damn embarrassing. It would be different if his jokes would evolve, but it’s always “sassy black woman voice” or “over the top gay guy” or a few random “go to” impressions. By that I mean the ones that everyone… EVERYONE goes to. Like a Nixon, a Cosby, etc. He proves that you can use stereotypes all you want as long as you don’t let up and do it really fast.
(THREE) OVERRATED DRAMA
Here’s the deal here. I too was once a victim of the Robin Williams drama scam. He’s pulling the wool over everyone eyes by playing the same character in every dramatic movie. He just plays a creep introvert… the same style… the same weirdo. Is there much of a difference between his character in “Insomnia” and “One Hour Photo” besides age? He has no range in drama, but he gets by on his name and his charisma.
(TWO) HORRIBLE MOVIES
There are so many movies with this guy on the poster. He has had some big and successful ones and a lot of smaller ones, but there is one thing that remains consistent. Most of them just suck. For every “Good Morning Vietnam” there is a Flubber, Fathers Day, Robots, RV, and Old Dogs. There are plenty of people who are guilty of taking the family film money, but there is a huge difference. Robin Williams sucks.
(ONE) STOLEN JOKES
I’ve always heard names like Carlos Menstealia when people talk about notorious joke stealers, but I’ve heard the name Robin Williams pop up more than a few times. It’s just crazy to think a man of A-List stature would do such a thing, but that’s how the story goes. One situation involved David Brenner claiming he threatened William’s with bodily harm if he heard Williams tell another one of his jokes. There’s stuff about him ripping off local guys and even stuff about him nabbing a Ray Romano joke. There is tons of info about Robin Williams stealing jokes out there. I’ve even heard as story that some comedians who got a little loud about it finding big checks at their door as an “I’m sorry” so to speak.
