(FOUR) WWE SUPERSTARS OF WRESTLING BARS
If you were a WWF fan around 1987 or so then you had to have one of these ice cream bars. They were basically an ice cream sandwich with a stick and a WWF superstar drawing imprinted on it. It wasn’t anything too special in terms of mass marketing to children, but I just so happened to be a child when these came out. I know I had at least one, but I always wanted more. I’d see them advertised and wonder why my parents didn’t love me as much as the kids in the commercial. Some things are left better forgotten…
(THREE) BOARD GAMES
Does anyone still play board games? I’m talking Sorry!, Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Candy land, etc. I’m not talking about a casual board game experience, but rather a full on board game war. I recall many closets and rooms full of board games in many people’s homes in the 80’s and 90’s. It kept us busy and it was fun times for all.
(TWO) TYPEWRITERS
There is something really classy about typewriters. Most of our favorite books came to life on a typewriter. The clicking, the manual loading, the buckets of white out, and really it’s the whole process. It was much more hands on and on edge than a simple click and type of a computer. I’m not saying I don’t want my computer at all, but I do miss the class a typewriter brought to the art of words.
(ONE) VIOLENT KID SHOWS
Just because certain kids are too stupid to realize TV violence shouldn’t be emulated doesn’t mean the entire world should suffer. You should just be a better parent. I grew up with Ninja Turtles, Pro Wrestling WMAC Masters, Karate Kid, Action Movies, and random other “violent” things. Is it so wrong to see someone get hit by a car, beat by a baseball bat, or karate chopped in the groin? Most of us in our mid to late 20s and beyond grew up on cats and mice trying to murder each other. We’re fine.
