(FOUR) HE LOOKS LIKE STAN’S DAD ON SOUTHPARK
It’s been said before and it’ll be said a million more times in the future. Stan’s dad, Randy Marsh, looks JUST like Dave Grohl. Southpark has become an iconic show just as Dave has become an iconic rockstar. If you’ve ever seen Dave Grohl and then watch Southpark you’re totally going to make the connection. Dave Grohl is awesome.
(THREE) HUMOR
Dave Grohl could easily be one of the biggest dicks in music and get away with it. He has all the money he needs and can and will accomplish anything he really wants. I’m sure he’s at a place in his life that he doesn’t need anyone’s approval and could just make music and art specifically for his own amusement for the rest of his days. Still, the dude has a great sense of humor. If you want the Foo videos you’ll see he doesn’t take himself seriously at all. He’ll joke around, he’ll take no hesitation in making someone laugh, and he’s pretty good at it. He’s done stuff with Jack Black via his own stuff and Jack’s Tenacious D. It’s pretty rare to see this guy without a smile on his face. Any why not? He’s Dave Grohl and I’m sure he knows this. Dave Grohl is awesome.
(TWO) A MAN OF HIS WORD
In 2006 two miners in Tasmania, Australia were trapped following a collapse. One of the men asked for an ipod with the album “In Your Honor”, a Foo Fighters album. Grohl was honored by the request and sent a long a letter telling them there’s two tickets to “any Foo show, anywhere, and two cold beers waiting for yous. Deal?” October of that year Grohl and one of the miners met for a beer after a show at the Sydney Opera House. Along with this he wrote an instrumental song for the meeting and promised the man it would be on the band’s next album. Come the release of “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace” he kept his word with the track “Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners”. Dave Grohl is awesome.
(ONE) HE ONLY MAKES GREAT MUSIC
I’m a fan. There is no way around it. He was in Nirvana. He is in Foo Fighters. He is in Them Crooked Vultures. He makes guest appearances on tons of other awesome projects. Wiki tells me that Dave Grohl has performed in over 30 bands since becoming a musician. He is amazing. He is primarily a drummer, but he’s an awesome vocalist, a solid as shit bass player, and he’s not too shabby on the keys. Find me a rock icon under 50 who is as amazing as Dave fn Grohl? You’re not going to convince me otherwise. I can have my own personal favorites all day, but I cannot deny the fact that Dave Grohl is the epitome of a modern rock icon. All hail, Dave! Dave Grohl is awesome.
