I’m just now understanding what the hell dysentery is. Everyone over the age of 25 or 26 should remember this crap. Sure it was on a shitty green tinted screen and sure it was on a super slow computer in the dark corner of your classroom. It was one of the first and only computer games most of us had access to.
(THREE) STREET FIGHTER II
Violence and video games were still fresh in the early 90’s. We weren’t having 3D full on combat with people across the world. Instead we actually had to have friends sit next you and smash buttons. No one got too bloody or anything, but there were sonic booms, electrocutions, and some bad ass uppercuts. I don’t even remember part I. Was Blanca or Chun Li in it? If not, then I don’t want any part of it.
(TWO) NBA JAM
There were tons of cool basketball games, but NBA Jam was the coolest. You had like two or three players and tons of action. There are many sounds you hear when accomplishing something… applause… a laugh… a high pitched moan… or in this case, “YOU’RE ON FIRE!” At that point, you know you’re doing something right.
(ONE) SUPER MARIO 3
Some games are a breeze and some games are Super Mario 3. I love me some Mario. Anyone who doesn’t deserves karma so unmentionable that I will not mention it. The first games were fun and challenging, but this game took things to a new level. The levels, the horribly cool costumes, and the time and effort that went into this game were top notch. Sure other games have surpassed the complexity of this one, but some twenty some years later this game is still amazing and a challenge. You don’t need a headset, surround sound, 3D, or more than a few buttons. You just need Mario, that kick ass little squirrel costume, and some boats...
