(FOUR) ROOTS
Julianne Moore was an “army brat”. Her mom was a social worker who came to America from Scotland and her dad was apparently Superman. He was a military lawyer, judge, helicopter pilot, and army colonel. With this she moved around from place to place in the US and Germany. She even split her time in high school between a school in Germany and Virginia.
(THREE) PAID DUES
She moved to New York and paid her dues. She got herself a Daytime Emmy Award for her work on “As the World Turns”. She was originally “Julie Smith”, but had to change her name because of writer guild rules. She went with her dad’s middle name and adapted her first name a little to come up with “Julianne Moore”. In the early 90’s she landed some smart parts in “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle”, Benny & Joon”, and “The Fugitive”. Things took a great turn for her around 93. “Short Cuts”, “Nine Months”, a Jurassic Park movie, and eventually the late 90’s would rock for her.
(TWO) COOLEST ROLES
Julianne Moore has been in some of the best movies and television shows in the past twenty years. She rocked it in “The Big Lebowski”, “Boogie Nights”, “The Hours”, “Psycho”, “Magnolia” and others during the 90s. In the 00’s she rocked in “The Ladies Man”, “Hannibal”, the massively underrated “Evolution, “Children of Men”, “Savage Grace”, “Blindness”, “A Single Man”, “Chloe”, recurring on “30 Rock”, and recently “The Kids Are All Right”. Those are just the ones that I REALLY like. She’s been in a lot of stuff. One thing you’ll notice is that she’s done a wide variety of work. She’ll do indies, big budget, horror, comedy, thriller, drama, and pretty much everything. You have to respect that kind of resume.
(ONE) WRITER
Julianne Moore is obviously a beautiful woman, smart, and caring. In 2007 she wrote a book based on her childhood experiences of being a little red headed and freckled girl. The book is called “Freckleface Strawberry”. There was some success and acclaim for this book and two years later they released a follow up called “Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully”. That’s pretty awesome.
