"Top 4 90’s Tag Teams"

(FOUR) THE OUTSIDERS
I wanted to be cool and put Owen Hart and British Bulldog here. They were awesome together, but the sad fact is that they just weren’t together long enough. I even saw them in action myself at Wrestlemania 13. So instead I go with The Outsiders. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash owned the WCW tag team division. They were 6 time Tag Team Champions and both held multiple singles titles. Praising the nWo seems a little redundant, but these two made one of the best tag teams in history. The difference is that if they were a team their whole careers and didn’t have their own histories as single wrestlers I don’t think they’d have been as endeared.

(THREE) NEW AGE OUTLAWS
Separately these two weren’t that great. They were barely struggling to be midcarders when they started to team up. I remember going to a RAW in Indianapolis in the late 90s. They were just getting together and they put Cactus Jack and “Chainsaw Charlie” Terry Funk in a dumpster and pushed them off the entrance ramp. That was INSANE for the time period. From there they won tons of titles and got to be a main part of the lame version of DX. They were over as shit. Being a teenager during their best days probably has something to do with my fandom, but so be it.

(TWO) THE DUDLEY BOYS
Not “Team 3D” or whatever those old guys who look like Bubba Ray and Devon Dudley call themselves. These two could start riots and sometimes came really damn close. They won the ECW Tag Titles eight times. Those were the best years. They killed it. They weren’t the most athletic, but they brawled and worked their asses off. The best years were the tye-dyed shirt times. They wore overalls, tye-dye, tapped nerd glasses, cursed a lot, and put on a great show. They went to WWF and things got lame quickly. They were still somewhat respectable, but they were shells of their former selves. Then in TNA, shoot me! I’ll still always love their ee-cee-dubbya days.

(ONE) HARLEM HEAT
It’s not that they were the coolest WCW Tag Team of all time. It’s not that their theme music was amazingly cool. It’s not that they were managed by Colonel Rob Parker and Sister Sherri. It’s the fact that they were the total package. I only went to one WCW show as a kid and it was before their time. I always wondered how awesome it would have been to see Harlem Heat in the WWF during the pre-Attitude Era days. Harlem Heat versus The Rockers, Demolition, The Harts, The Headshrinkers, etc. They’d have been great for the Attitude era too. No other WCW team sticks out in my mind as “What if…” worthy. They were really good in the ring, exciting, great on the mic, and they carried WCW for most of the 90’s.
