(FOUR) SKETCHY GIANT
I think a lot of people forget about this show. “Human Giant” was awesome. It was Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, and Aziz playing different characters and do a weird sketch comedy show. The ones that stand out to me was the two dickhead child star agents and the weird emo-gothy magicians. It was just off kilter and so strange you’d have no choice but to laugh. It has a cult following now, but I think it’ll get even bigger as Aziz gets more attention in the upcoming future. It’s crazy MTV let “Human Giant” air for two seasons and wanted a third, but the group wanted to do other things. It worked out for Aziz for sure.
(THREE) STOOD-UP COMEDY
His debut special was amazing. If you haven’t seen “Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening” then you’re missing out on one of the best stand up specials I’ve seen in a really long time. He started in NY while in college, but has paid his dues and toured around a lot. In 06 and 07 he toured with the Comedians of Comedy and Flight of the Conchords. Since then he has been headlining his own tours with increasingly bigger venues and crowds. Not too long ago I remember him coming to Chicago and them having to add dates because of the high demand. I would hope and think that this latest “Dangerously Delicious” tour would have led to a new special. Fingers crossed.
(TWO) POP UPS
Aziz just pops up a lot. He’s been in so many things that I’ve seen that I go back and watch it and I’m like “That’s Aziz!” He was in School for Scoundrels, The Rocker, Flight of the Conchords, Reno 911!, I Love You Man, and other places. He was even in like four episodes of Scrubs.
(ONE) PARKS AND WRECKED
In 2008 the makers of The Office announced they were doing another show. I remember for awhile there was rumors it was going to be a direct spin off of The Office, but it ended up being Parks and Recreation. They announced Aziz Ansari as the first cast member. Before Amy, before anyone… it was Aziz! So technically doesn’t that make it HIS show?
