(FOUR) THREE-PEAT
Katey Sagal has officially earned her “Three-Peat” of shows. Katey has starred as Peggy Bundy in “Married With Children”, the mom on “8 Simple Rules”, and now the huge hit “Sons of Anarchy”. But there’s still plenty more about her worth mentioning.
(THREE) BORN AND RAISED
She born in Hollywood and got into acting young. She did some made for TV movies in the early 70’s and even did backup vocals for artists like Bob Dylan and Tanya Tucker. From there music kind of became her thing. She did vocals on Gene Simmon’s solo album and toured in 79 as a backup singer for Bette Midler. Meanwhile she had her own band called “The Group With No Name”.
(TWO) BIG BREAK AND TOONAGE
In 87 she got the role of Peg Bundy. She’d rock this role for 11 years and secured her place in television history. After this show, she started doing voice work for cartoons. Starting with “Recess” and then onto “Futurama”. “Futurama” was on for a few years, cancelled, and then brought back because of the cult following on Comedy Central.
(ONE) 2000’S AND BEYOND
In 2002 she landed the mother role on “8 Simple Rules” with John Ritter. Sadly, John passed away in 2003 and the show was reworked with James Garner and David Spade coming on board to fill in the unfillable void. This show had so much potential, but was cancelled in 2005 after a 3rd season. And recently her career finds her as a bad ass on “Sons of Anarchy”, which is getting rave reviews and is picking up a lot of steam. Add all of this to appearances on “That 70’s Show”, “Lost”, “Boston Legal”, and other shows. Katey Sagal is going to be seen and enjoyed for many more years to come. With syndication she’s going to live forever and I’m completely cool with that.
