(FOUR) ST. ELMO’S FIRE
People rag on this movie, but it’s pretty awesome. I don’t get how anyone can hate on the Brat Pack. The cast is fun, the movie is well done, and the script was really underrated. I really enjoy seeing Rob Lowe with a mullet rocking the hell out on the sax-a-ma-phone! No one screws with Billy Hixx!
(THREE) WAYNES WORLD
As a kid, this would probably be the first memory I have of Rob Lowe. I’ve seen the stuff he was in before this and saw it as a kid, but the Waynes World role was burnt into my brain forever. He played the evil asshole foil to Wayne and Garth. That kind of stuff sticks with you. I’m never going to trust anyone named Benjamin because of this movie. Rightfully so too.
(TWO) THE STAND
The Stand was pretty awesome. It was a little cheesy, but it was surreal and crazy enough within its own world that you could get caught up in it pretty easily. I went into it reluctantly, but ended up loving it. I didn’t expect to see Rob Lowe in a movie like this, but he rocked it. He played a deaf man wandering the land during the apocalypse. What more do I need to say?
(ONE) THE WEST WING
I was always amazed that Rob didn’t stay on The West Wing for the entire run. I think I read stuff about money, line count, or something lame like that. Whatever it was, I was always happy to see Sam Seaborn show up. In the early seasons him being around really made the show likeable when otherwise dry. The character was awesome and at the end I was always hoping he’d have been the pick for Vice President. Great show and easily the best Rob Lowe work I’ve seen.
