(FOUR) LURCH
I had to think about this one. The more I thought about it, the more Lurch made sense for this one. He was big, tall, and monstrous. The whole “You rang?” and slow deep voice thing was very memorable.
(THREE) ALFRED
I’m talking about the old school live action show. On the show the iconic character was played by Alan Napier. He wasn’t too featured, but he brought a sense of dignity and comfort to the show. He knew Bruce Wayne was out there doing the Batman thing, but it was just another part of the gig.
(TWO) MR. BELVEDERE
Mr. Belvedere was a fun show when I was a kid. Played by the awesome Christopher Hewett, it went on for six seasons and ended in 1990. I was really young, but I do remember being really fond of the show. The big reason was because Mr. Belvedere was awesome. He was like Mary Poppins with a mustache. Why isn’t this in syndication right now?
(ONE) GEOFFREY
Played by Joseph Marcell, “Geoffrey” was awesome. He was there for the sum of the show. You’d think he was just supposed to be around and make the occasional spot and joke, but one could argue that he became just as important to the show as the actual family. He got in some great one-liners, had some funny episodes centered on him, and carried his load of the show for sure. He was a butler and all that, but I think his presence as “the help” was easy to ignore because of his impact on the show.
