(FOUR) ELF
I think I’m part cyborg because I don’t love this movie. I accept the fact that a lot of people have fallen in love with this movie, but it just never did it for me. I like everyone involved, but this wasn’t my cup of tea. I do like it though because it was one of Zooey’s first big break out roles. She got to showcase some of her classy style leading woman charm while displaying her lovely singing voice and rocking at the same time. If she wasn’t in this movie, Will’s act would get really tiresome fast. I know… I’m a monster!
(THREE) YES MAN
This movie was underrated. The trailer and promo made it look like a weird update or sequel to Liar Liar. It was way better than that. Jim Carrey is really good in this, but to me Zooey being around made him much more likeable. I think the mentality was “if SHE can find good in him then he has to be awesome”. She’s the wacky and fun personality needed for him to get out of his everyday rut. It’s a really decent comedy. If you get a chance, take it!
(TWO) ALMOST FAMOUS
She wasn’t in this movie very long. She played the coolest big sister ever. She showed her brother, the main character, how to step out and just rebel against his controlling mom. She gave him some kick ass albums and told him to listen with a candle lit. She was awesome. I’d have liked to have seen more about her life. In a movie about rockstars and free spirits, she was the coolest female of the bunch. I wonder if Cameron Crowe’s sister is really that awesome…
(ONE) 500 DAYS OF SUMMER
When you’re an actress you want to be known and heralded for your work. It’s like that for any entertainment or creative gig. She’s not only an actress, but an indie actress who makes indie rock and still does commercial films. In this movie she kept her indie cred, got tons of big time acclaim, and got out there a bit more. I think this movie proves that she can and will carry main roles in more awesome movies in the future. She has this natural likeability to her that made this 110% hipsterish movie really enjoyable.
