"Top 4 90’s Female Managers"
10/23/11
BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

(FOUR) KIMBERLY PAGE
As a face, she was pretty much a poor man’s Sunny meets Miss Elizabeth. She was all smiles, pretty, and all bouncy. It got the job done and she did well with this. To me, she REALLY hit her stride as a heel in the later part of her days in WCW. She was doing the super bitchy diva thing perfectly. I think at this point she was really underrated because WCW was sucky and the shows had so much clutter that it was hard to point her out. I always thought it would have been cool to see her in WWE as a heel to go up against a Trish or a Stephanie.

(THREE) FRANCINE
A lot of women came and went in ECW, no pun intended. Francine was always around. She was the “Queen of Extreme” and did A LOT for ECW. She put her ass on the line more than once and just had a certain ring presence that made you both intimidated and seduced. She would take sick bumps, could work the mic, and was always awesome. If I recall correctly, she was doing the “gold digger” character way before anyone else too.

(TWO) CHYNA
Best female worker ever. There I said it. On top of that, she was a pretty cool manager. There was a point where Chyna could BELIEVABLY been the WWF/E World Champion. No other female performer has come close to breaking down that barrier. Chyna revolutionized female wrestling in the US. She was stuck in a weird time where the only females wrestling was like Sable taking on Miss Jackie in pudding matches and shit like that. It was barely wrestling outside of a few head scissors and a few suggestive moves. Chyna was wrestling. She started wrestling the guys and getting involved that way because there was no one for her to work with. She wasn’t the best, but she held her own in there with the likes of Foley, Eddie, Jericho, and others. Without her bringing a serious take to women’s wrestling I don’t think we’d have the Natties, Beths, or even TNA Knockout division the way we do now. Sure she wasn’t some indie darling who worked stiff and did spots like the Ring of Honor guys, but she did her thing and did it well. She gets a bad rap now for all the TMZ-style stuff, but I’m still hopeful she’ll find a place in the business again.

(ONE) SUNNY
Is this one any more obvious? Sunny is by far the best female manager of all time. The Miss Elizabeth’s and Sensational Sherri’s before are the trailblazers but Sunny came into the WWF and changed the females role in wrestling forever. She proved that you could have a strong presence on the mic, being useful in matches, and still be a pin-up. From day one with Skip as the “Bodydonnas” you could tell she was special. From there she got involved with random manager roles, hosted shows, and was really the female face of the company. She wasn’t a wrestler in the least bit, but she still proved she belonged in the ring more than the majority of former Womens and Divas champions that came after her. I drool at the idea of her, today, being the GM of a show or hell, a color commentator. Have you seen her lately? More please!
