(FOUR) DARRELL HAMMOND
You know who should have replaced “Michael Scott” on The Office? Darrell FN Hammond, that’s who! You could have gotten everything you get from the “Robert California” character you already wanted and a loooot more. Hammond is a solid hand and once a show lands him in the right spot that show will prosper.
(THREE) DANA CARVEY
I’m pretty sure they tried to do a Dana Carvey show before. Imagine if Dana Carvey popped up on Curb Your Enthusiasm. He is hilarious. Outside of the Church Lady, I’ve never saw him as a solo guy. He was funnier as Garth to a Wayne… Hanz(or Franz) to Franz(or Hanz)... etc. I don’t get this. Is he too “big” for a supporting role? Did he burn bridges or something? Why isn’t Dana Carvey on my TV, on a decent show, every week?
(TWO) CHERI OTERI
What happened here? It’s almost as if every female SNL cast member with four or more years under her belt got a NBC sitcom gig(except for Dratch). I guess everyone SINCE Oteri. Cheri Oteri was the best female on the show before the Fey “yay! Women rule!” phase of the show. To be completely honest, Oteri was funnier than Fey and the others. I don’t get it. She had insane chemistry with Will Ferrell and had some pretty memorable characters. Unless I’m missing something, how is she not a solid hand in comedy?
(ONE) DAN AYKROYD
Okay, let’s try this again. This time without the motorcycle riding preacher character. I’d love to see Dan Aykroyd do a sitcom or series of some sort. He’s a really underrated actor as it is, but his comedy has always been something remarkable. He’s one of the originals AND he’s a Ghostbuster. I know he’s busy with a lot of things, but would a 10 to 13 episode arch on a cable channel really hurt him?
