(FOUR) BACK TO SCHOOL
He’s like a fifth level star in this movie. It was 1986 and he was in a comedy with Rodney Dangerfield as the weird new wave-looking friend of his son. He’s not even the son. He’s the friend OF the son. Still, it looks like a lot of fun. He’s got this new wave punk thing going for him and he gets in a few snarky sarcastic lines here and there.
(THREE) WEIRD SCIENCE
In 1985 he was heel jock #2! It was a bigger role than THAT, but it was still sorta small. It’s another supporting role, but it’s a supporting role of a cult classic. He was asshole heel jock who got in a few snarky sarcastic lines here and there.
(TWO) HEART AND SOULS
This 1993 movie was a really charming movie. I remember a girl I had a crush on saying it was her favorite movie. As time went on I think my enjoyment for the movie eclipsed my crush for the girl. The cast was fun. It’s one of my favorite Charles Grodin movies too. That says a lot coming from someone that was young enough to appreciate at least one of the Beethoven movies. Oh yeah, Robert Downey Jr. was funny in it too.
(ONE) KISS KISS BANG BANG
I know what you’re thinking “What the hell, man! Where is Tropic Thunder or Due Date!?” No thanks. This list is OBVIOUSLY opinion and I just didn’t like either of those movies all that much. His Tropic Thunder performance is hacky and he sleptwalked through Due Date. He’s really smug and too impersonal to be a comedy guy now. That said, I thought he rocked in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He plays a smooth talking petty crook that finds himself taking a role in Hollywood that required him to work with a private investigator to get prepared for a role. Hilarity and crime ensues…
