(FOUR) PEARL HARBOR
Ever get two celebrities mixed up to the point where you credit one for movies the other did? I’ve done that recently with Kate Beckinsale and another actress I’m too embarrass to say. I thought I could write a top four Kate Beckinsale movie list without a problem, but here we are listing Pearl Harbor at number four. The movie can suck and well, shit… even her performance can suck. This is STILL one of her top films because of the massive exposure it got for her. It’s like saying Transformers is one of Megan Fox’s best “films”. I don’t Kate Beckinsale, but I just got in over my head here.
(THREE) THE AVIATOR
Kate Beckinsale is Ava Gardner. This movie is often forgotten by a lot of people for some reason. It was a pretty good movie from what I remember. I do remember Beckinsale though. That says a lot because I don’t remember too much about the movie. I would assume, like Pearl Harbor, no matter how she did it STILL got her out there in front of a whole lot of people.
(TWO) SERENDIPITY
I forgot she was in this movie, but I’m a fan. In the middle of a lot of shitty romantic comedies being thrown out there was this movie. It’s a really sweet movie and it’s much better than many people would think it is. It’s a John Cusack lead, but she’s “the girl”. This is one of those guilty pleasures I’m not afraid to admit I did enjoy.
(ONE) UNDERWORLD
Kate Beckinsale is the only reason these movies work. She proves she doesn’t have be in period pieces. The Underworld series is really underrated. It’s an interesting world and the depth is there. The third one sucked a little because she wasn’t in it. She can be a typical upper class pomp woman with ease, but here she shows off some grit and puts a spin on the character that others wouldn’t have. Sure it’s like Matrix meets Blade… I still like it.
