(FOUR) PAPER AIR PLANE STUDIES
I miss the days of paper airplanes. Not just a sloppily folded plane you throw out of boredom. I’m talking about a well crafted, iron-like folded seams, and an attempt at aerodynamics that the smartest of men still haven’t figured out. I remember reading books on plane making techniques as a kid. I didn’t care about any trees I was killing. This was an art and the ends justified the means even if the plane is a dud. The effort was there and hopefully you learned something new that round. It was a serious deal. I think I have more respect for paper air planes than I do a majority of humanity.
(THREE) THE TACO BELL DOG
I could have been broad and said “fast food icons”, but this little Chihuahua was special. For a while this little dog was all over the world and on TV. It’s a small dog who said “Yo Quiro Taco Bell”. For some reason, it was gold! I am admitting this to YOU because I like you, but I actually owned a Taco Bell dog shirt that I wore the shit out of.
(TWO) MICRO MACHINES
That dude with the mustache who talked really fast in the commercials really made these little cars seem like the coolest things ever. Most folks had their Hot Wheels and “normal” sized car. Then other people had parents who were completely unaware of the concept of “choking hazard”. All these things were was small miniature cars. Still, they were pretty awesome. They had a lot of “theme” sets. I remember having the old Batman set up. I recently found the little purple van that was The Jokers. It’s still awesome. These things were way more dangerous than anyone gave them credit for. Mainly because kids were more bad ass back then.
(ONE) HEROES
This TV show was cancelled way too soon. It had four solid years, but it really needed that fifth year to wrap it all up. Most people gave up on it too soon. Those of us who stuck it out were rewarded with some great mindless entertainment. There was something so pulpy… so comic book-y… so noir-y about it. It’s only been gone for a few years, but it’s a common thought. The Sylar character is still the best bad guy of television history as well. He’s worth watching it for alone, but the rest of the cast is great too. Talking about this show is depressing because I miss it.
