(FOUR) TRIPLE H
This sounds crazy, but I think Triple H’s overall legacy is overrated. I can’t take his title reigns seriously because the number is ridiculously big and the Attitude Era’s title counts were crazy. You almost have to grade those reigns on a curve. For some reason he presents himself as if he’s in the same iconic class as an Undertaker, Hogan, Austin, Rock, Michaels, or Flair. He’s definitely up there. I’m not going to deny that. I’m not so much a fan now a days, but in a whole I appreciate the hell out of the entertainment he has provided. It’s just I don’t think he’s even close to “Mount Rushmore of Wrestling” status. He’s the lower end of “the greats” list. When you expand outwards of the WWE he falls more so on the list. He’s somewhere around Dusty and Harley in status. Respectable as hell, but he’s still overrated.
(THREE) TRISH STRATUS
Trish was a great diva, but I think she’s often overrated. She was a very generic personality, but she was really attractive. The only real character she showed outside of “face wrestler version #294934” was when she went heel. Even then it wasn’t too groundbreaking. She was a solid hand, that’s for sure. She’s one of the best “divas” in recent years for sure. Her matches weren’t all that great. She had memorable spots, but it wasn’t like she was going in with five star matches. She wasn’t as “sloppy” as others in the ring and she was hot. That’s about the extent of it. Gimme Chyna any day…
(TWO) BROCK LESNAR
When Brock Lesnar was six he got stung by twenty six bees and his face swelled up and never went down. That’s a lie, but it’s what I pretend in my mind whenever I see him. Brock Lesnar’s time in WWE is a blur to me. Not because I wasn’t watching, but because it was pretty damn dull. He was lucky to have Paul Heyman as his mouth piece otherwise he’d not have gotten as far. I never got the praise he got. He wasn’t around long enough to make a real lasting impact. To be honest, I think Bobby Lashley had more upside in the long run. If Brock hadn’t had screwed the pooch it would have changed things for the better. I believe more people would have been given chances and new faces would have gotten more opportunity to shine. Instead one of the few new-guy chances the WWE takes goes off and leaves to fail at playing in the NFl, fail at playing for the “World League, and then eventually fail at MMA. If you can’t tell, I’m a huge fan.
(ONE) CHRIS BENOIT
What Chris Benoit did will always overshadow his “accomplishments” in professional wrestling. To be so dumb as to appreciate his work and complain that no one else wants to acknowledge him anymore is stupid. Did you know Hitler was a painter? This would be like saying “Yeah, the holocaust sucked… but look at those brush strokes!” Even before “the incident” I thought he was overrated. In any other era he wouldn’t have been a champion at Wrestlemania. In the 80’s he’d have been a solid midcarder under the heavy shadows of guys like Perfect, Steamboat, and eventually the 90’s with Michaels, Hart, Razor, etc. My beef is that he wasn’t entertaining. Sure he was a great wrestler, but his lack of emotional range made it nearly impossible for me to every really invest in his work.
