(FOUR) CHEAP PLASTIC HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
Remember those little shitty plastic kitchen aprons with lame painted on “costumes”? Those rocked, right? They were the cheapest things ever. It would be like the image of Superman’s torso or the mid section of a stereotypical vampire costume. Then to top this masterpiece off, you get a really cheap and shitty plastic mask. It’s got a painful rubber band to hold it on your face. The plastic is flimsy, sharp, and crappy enough to make your day miserable enough while still staying up. Worst case scenario, your mom has to use a red rubber band to replace the shitty little band that was included.
(THREE) LEGGO MY EGGO COMMERCIALS
I miss the old school marketing jingles and slogans. It seems to have went wayside for a new marketing scheme. Still one of those old school commercials that I stood out when putting this together was the old “Leggo my EGGO” commercial. Nothing too special about it, but it’s a tag-line that pretty much anyone knows. I’m not even sure when the last time I had a frozen waffle, but I’m almost positive I’ve said “Leggo my EGGO” at least three times since then.
(TWO) YO! MTV RAPS
The timeframe that Yo! MTV Raps was on television was a great period in hip hop. That’s the main reason I miss the show. Ed Love and Dr. Dre were great hosts, but it wasn’t really their work that made the show work. It was the whole thing. They were entertaining, MTV was supportive of a more music agenda, and the whole genre was putting out some of it’s best work. It was comparable to rock’s late 60’s “Woodstock” era. There was just so much creative, ground breaking, and inspired work coming out from a lot of strong artists.
(ONE) GENERIC HAND HELD GAMES
When the generic looking black and white Gameboy was the prized possession of the land, there was still a slew of generic hand held games. It was little Double-A using plastic crap fest. It was little barely stick figure games that resembled baseball, basketball, or even fighting games in some cases. There was like 2 buttons and one of them was off. The noise that came these things, I suppose an attempt at melody or music, was atrocious. That said, these games were the coolest things ever. They were great ways to pass time in cars and to sneak into class and never really get to play. My favorite was the pin ball one.
