(FOUR) HOST
Howie Mandel is a natural host. He’s a charming, funny, and pretty harmless guy. He’s cheesy at times, but overall he does the job and is easy to like. I don’t understand why he doesn’t have a talk show right now. He did “Deal or No Deal” when it was a primetime show and still hosts the afternoon version. He fills in whenever anyone needs a host and seems to be a solid hand in the hosting game.
(THREE) VOICE
Howie has done a lot of great voice work. He has done the “Phineas and Ferb”, Muppet Babies, Gremlins, and some other stuff. The reason this paragraph exists is because of his awesome work on Bobby’s World. This show lasted from 1990 through 98 and they still did specials. This show as a pleasant part of my youth.
(TWO) ACTING
Howie has been in some awesome movies and TV shows. I think people forget about this sometimes. “Walk Like a Man” was a classic. Same with “Little Monsters”. These two movies were two of my favorite movies as a child. I didn’t understand most of the jokes in “Walk Like a Man”, but boy did I love it. Then “Little Monsters” was pretty damn amazing too. The story and performance of everyone involved was perfect. I’d love to see a part two where the monster would meet Fred Savage’s son or something. Why not?
(ONE) COMEDIAN
This is how he got out there in the first place. He was wacky and edgy. He was like a non-dickhead version of Daniel Tosh. He was still the same likeable goof, but he was fresh and more in the times. I remember the whole condom over the head gag and there was this really elaborate part in one of his specials where he had an entire section of the hall move to screw with someone who went to the bathroom. I’d be interested in seeing him do stand up again, but the problem is that he’d have to tone his act down A LOT to maintain his current “image”. Back in the day though, he was seriously not bad at all…
