(FOUR) SEATTLE SUPERSONICS
I’m cool with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but I see no reason why the NBA can’t bring back the Seattle Supersonics. I miss that team. Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, Delef Schrempf, Sam Perkins, Hersey Hawkins, and all of those guys were a strong team. They even made it to the finals in the 95/96 season. It’s crazy to think that within fifteen years they’d be moved out of town.
(THREE) STARTER HATS/JACKETS
How did Starter go away? It was the coolest brand of athletic gear in the 90’s. Nike, Adidas, and Converse reigned on, but others like Fila, Rebok, LA Gear, and others faded a bit. Then there is Starter. Those Starter jackets and hats were VERY popular in the 90s. If a hat or jacket didn’t have that crooked “S” logo then it wasn’t cool. What the hell happened?
(TWO) NBA JAM
I think they brought this back, but old NBA JAM arcade games were the shit. They had about a million codes to put in to get different characters. I remember being able to put in a code and play the game as Bill Clinton, Al Gore, or even Warren Moon. The whole “he’s on fire!” line is still one of the coolest and most rewarding sounds a human male can hear. I just wish Jordan was in the game. Ron Harper and Scottie Pippen were a nice duo, but dammit… a game about crazy dunking without Michael Jordan was a little sacrilegious.
(ONE) INSIDE STUFF WITH AHMAD RASHAD
During the 90’s, kids got a full dose of NBA knowledge on Saturday mornings as part of the TNBC block of programming. That’s how big the NBA was. In between Saved By The Bell and Wild And Crazy Kids was a half hour chunk of Ahmad Rashad laying down the knowledge. Without this show I’d never had known half the things I know now. The show was awesome. As time went on they tried to air it on different channels with different hosts, but it was never the same.
