(FOUR) FAMILY FEUD
Survey Says….! I used to dig Family Feud in the 90’s. It was a fun show. Richard Dawson was the original host in 76 and put in plenty of years, but my favorite host was always Ray Combs. Ray was just the guy I grew up watching and who I instantly associate with the game. The idea of two “families” going at it with these questions were awesome. The concept of “100 people were asked” is really cool because it adds a sense of speculation and discussion. I wonder how often the majority of the people surveyed were just flat out stupid.
(THREE) WHEEL OF FORTUNE
Can I buy a vowel?,,, How ‘bout a Vanna? The Vanna White Playboy is the first Playboy cover I remember seeing as a child. You just don’t forget things like that. On top of that very crucial fact, I just like the show. It’s basically “Hang Man” with some fancy twists and contraptions. It’s the perfect job for Pat Sajak too. He’s a nice guy, but I wouldn’t want to watch the show without his banter and voice behind it. It used to be a big $25,000 prize, but in recent years it was raised a bit. The show still remains the same otherwise.
(TWO) JEOPARDY
Merv Griffin created this too. In 1964 “Jeopardy” hit the air. In 1984 Alex Trebek became the host. History was then in fact made. Jeopardy is classier than the other shows and smarter. You’re asked real fact-based questions. It’s mainly intellectual topics with the occasional pop culture questions thrown in. Jeopardy is a show you watch to test your smarts. If you answer all the questions right… you’re smarter than those who don’t! Whoa!
(ONE) THE PRICE IS RIGHT
You guess prices of products, play a variety of games, occasionally win..A NEW CAR!, spin wheels, there are trips, and there are hot women pointing at everything! The Price Is Right might be the most American show of all time. It was created in the 50’s, but it wouldn’t be the awesome show it is now until 1972 when Bob Barker took the hosting job. He’d host it with class and vigor for years. He’s an icon and is awesome. He always will be. If there was a Talk Show Hall of Fame he should not only be inducted but have a statue erected of him. Merv Griffin may have created a million shows, but Bob Barker is the king. In 07 Drew Carey took the reins. At first people didn’t take to him, but he has done a great job and is building his own legacy with every spin of that big awesome wheel.
