(FOUR) BAD SITCOMS
I miss hating on cheesy sitcoms. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s, network TV crammed out tons of horrible sitcoms. This stuff had one-liners, laugh tracks, crazy antics, and always ended with a hug and a lesson learned. It was on the level of being so bad-it’s good. This isn’t even the stuff on Nick-at-Nite. I’m talking “Small Wonder”, “Hanging With Mister Cooper”, or even “Gimme’ A Break!” Maybe even forgotten gems like “Head of the Class”, “Herman’s Head”, or “Webster”. I could go on and on…
(THREE) FOX KIDS X-MEN CARTOON
In the early 90’s I was exposed to the awesomeness of the X-Men thanks for Fox’s “Fox Kids” Saturday morning line up. X-Men: The Animated Series was a really fun show. It started in 1992 and actually lasted five seasons. I’m pretty sure I saw most of them too. This lead me to the comic books at a younger age. This cartoon was WAY ahead of its time. It dealt with some real issues like the holocaust, AIDS, Christianity, divorce, and more. Yeah… I said AIDS and the holocaust. This kid’s cartoon talked about AIDS and the holocaust. That shit sticks with you.
(TWO) THERMOS AND LUNCH BOX COMBOS
I’m sure lunch boxes are still out there. Thermos’s might be too. I miss the old school thermos and box combo. These were hard and most likely poisonous plastic with a big sticker slapped on the middle with a random cartoon on it. I loved my Ghostbusters lunch box and thermos combo. I’m pretty sure thermos’s were made of stuff from NASA. I can’t recall ANY thermos spilling out problems. And the little cap-cup top was perfect. I’m fairly certain it could have been the first time I was forced to drink with my pinky up. This shit made you be classy!
(ONE) COOL SUPERMODELS
The cool supermodels have gone missing. Back in the day these supermodels were all over. They were famous for wearing clothes and posing. At least back then we pretended these type of celebrities had a real job. In the 80’s there was supermodels like Christie Brinkley, Elle Mcpherson, and Kathy Ireland. In the 90’s, we saw Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and others. These women rose to an iconic status and for better or worse became part of pop culture. Who else was there? Kate Moss and Tyra Banks were a while back as well. Since then… who has there been? No one on this level that’s for sure.
