(FOUR) 1992
The 1992 Summerslam makes the list mainly because of how amazing the Bulldog/Hart match was in the main. It was so rare for them to have an Intercontinental Championship match in the main event but the title was great at the time, it as Bulldog’s home turf, and they were ready to tear the house down… and holy shit! They did! We also got LOD going over on Money Inc, HBK and Rick Martel had a great match, and more. The other top matches had Undertaker defeating Kamala in a short match and Warrior defeated Randy Savage via count out. This was a really solid show despite there being a few non-finishes.
(THREE) 1998
This was a great time in WWE. This show was all about the Attitude era. The headliner was Stone Cold and the Undertaker in one of their typical classics. The undercard was stellar. D-Lo and Val Venis, X-Pac and Jarrett in a hair vs hair match, Ken Shamrock and Owen in a Lion’s Den match, and we even saw Sable! I’m also a big fan of the New Age Outlaws destruction of Mankind. It was so brutal and I was really into the storyline. On top of all of this, the semi-main was Triple H with Chyna taking on The Rock with Mark Henry in a Ladder Match for the IC Title. Great stuff.
(TWO) 1994
I think 1994 is one of my favorite years in WWF history. I was really into the product at the time and there was so much cool stuff going on. This show was a good example of the product. The main event had Undertaker facing off against Undertaker. It was the whole “where is Undertaker?!”/”Fake Undertaker” storyline. It was weird and silly, but at the time I was hooked into it and enjoyed it. The rest of the card was fun too. Razor Ramon with Walter Payton took on Diesel with Shawn Michaels in his corner. Tatanka defeated Lex Luger in a solid storyline match. Most importantly, was the semi-main event. We saw a 30 minute CLASSIC where Bret Hart defeated his brother Owen in a Steel Cage Match for the WWF Championship. This was such an awesome match and gave us good closure on the storyline that started around Royal Rumble when Owen turned. In fact, Undertaker’s situation goes back to the 94 Rumble too. Things made so much more sense back then and had logical and well planned conclusions.
(ONE) 2002
This has to be one of the greatest wrestling cards on paper. There is just too much on this card to not be overwhelmed by its awesomeness. The first two matches were Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio and then Ric Flair and Chris Jericho. Yeah.. that was the FIRST TWO MATCHES. The third match? Edge and Eddie Guerrero! How amazing is that? Lane Storm and Christian took on Booker T and Goldust, RVD and Benoit, and then Undertaker and Test. The top two matches were big deals. The main event was Brock Lesnar defeating The Rock for the Undisputed Championship and before that was Shawn Michaels returning to take on Triple H in a “Unsanctioned” Street Fight. This whole card is full of Hall of Fame quality performers. Sure there are a few that’ll never see a plaque with their name on it, but this card is ridiculous and clearly a dream card.
