(FOUR) MCHALES’S NAVY
It almost won a Razzie Award, but was THIS close. It wasn’t a perfect movie at all. In fact, it was kind of bad. But it’s one of those movies that are so bad that it’s good. The cast is awesome. The idea of making a McHale’s Navy movie wasn’t even that bad of an idea. It just didn’t work. This doesn’t stop channels like Comedy Central or Encore from throwing his into their line up every so often. I’ll often find myself watching the first ten minutes before realizing it’s not Sgt. Bilko.
(THREE) BIG BULLY/CARPOOL
I have mental flashbacks about Tom Arnold movies and these two movies are one big blur. In one movie we have the awesome Rick Moranis being bullied by the overbearing Tom. In the other we have a group of kids being held hostage by the overbearing Tom. I know these are different movies and that they have different plot devices, but it’s to figure out which one goes to which one.
(TWO) TRUE LIES
Is it me or do people seem to sleep on True Lies? That was a really fun action movie. It wasn’t the normal science fiction or weird action movie that came out at the time. It was a well written, action comedy. Tom plays Arnold’s zany co-worker/buddy in this. Their chemistry was oddly kind of perfect.
(ONE) SONS OF ANARCHY
This is one of the most recent things I’ve seen Tom Arnold in. In Sons of Anarchy Tom plays a really sleazy slime ball porn director. He had some weird and funny moments, but also did his part on the action and drama side. You go from rolling your eyes when he’s on to wanting to see him get his just deserves. Hopefully he can land some more cool character work like this.
