(FOUR) CREATIVE TABLE SPOTS
I don’t want to see someone get thrown through a table with a simple move. I like the creative twists on this. There is a certain art to this. The subtle set up early in the match and then action that’s so good that it makes you forget about it. Then we’re brought back to thinking about it and then finally the big pay-off. The more unexpected pop the better.
(THREE) MISTING, POWDER, AND FIRE!
When people get things put in their faces! There used to be some awesome Asian stereotype characters that would spit a mist. The best that come to mind is Muta and then later on Tajiri. I know many more would spit “mist”, but it seems to have dropped a little. Another option is when someone throws powder into their opponent’s face to blind them. The coolest option and biggest shock and awe is a good old fashioned fire ball. It can be really dangerous, but it’s always a big moment in any storyline.
(TWO) THE “LIVE” ATMOSPHERE
By this I mean the whole “ANYTHING Can Happen In the World Wrestling Federation”. When you watch the show live you have no idea what could happen. Most of the time the show sucks, but there is always that off chance that something huge will come out of nowhere. If there are results somewhere then it’s spoiled. I cannot read “spoilers”, but even the idea of knowing the show isn’t live does take away from it. I don’t know why, but it just does.
(ONE) TWENTY MINUTE MIDCARD MATCHES
The main event is what ends up on the posters and in the commercials, but it’s the undercard that sets the entire show’s tone. There is nothing cooler on a wrestling show than seeing a great back and forth match in the middle of the show that steals it. The old IC Title stuff was the epitome of what a midcard should be. If you watch a PPV, we’re treated to one of these matches every so often. These are the guys that are the most entertaining to watch and hopefully are there on their way up to taking the main event spots from the stale people there. Then they go to the main event and then someone new comes up through the midcard and proceeds to steal the show. It’s the best cycle ever when it’s working right.
