Top 4 Daniel Day-Lewis Films

(FOUR) MY LEFT FOOT
I think this is where Daniel Day-Lewis found himself on the radar of anyone who loved film. I was a child when this came out, but I remember him winning the Oscar for it and I’ve seen it a few different times over the years on cable. Daniel Day-Lewis’s performance as an Irishman with cerebral palsy is impressive. Especially since all he can control is his left foot.

(THREE) THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS
I remember being forced to watch this movie as a kid. I didn’t really appreciate it then. I was enthralled by the action, but there was a lot of dramatic down time that didn’t impress this 9 year old. Fast forward to my late teens. One random viewing experience changed my perception of this movie. For me, this is when I really noticed how bad ass of a performer that Mr. Day-Lewis is and can be.

(TWO) GANGS OF NEW YORK
Scorsese is known for his iconic work. Every new thing he does is the best thing ever unless you’re bringing up his old De Niro projects. Then you’re allowed to bring those up for consideration. He makes tons of great movies. This is what happens when you take one of the best directors of all time and pair him up with some of the best actors out there today, including Daniel Day-Lewis. He is such an evil and bad person in this movie and he does it very well.

(ONE) THERE WILL BE BLOOD
I know there are plenty more I could have listed. It should be noted that these four picks are actually in an “oldest to newest” order. To me this proves that as great as Daniel Day-Lewis is, he KEEPS GETTING BETTER! That is amazing. He plays “Daniel Plainview”, a vile oil man, in this movie and won the Oscar for it. It’s a great movie that should be seen by anyone who wants their mind blown by a great performance. No one should ever forget the line “I drink your milkshake!” He stole the “milkshake game” from Kelis. That’s power!
