(FOUR) STOP SMOKING
Saying you’re going to quit something for New Year’s is an empty gesture. If you want to quit something own that shit and quit on your own terms. Why hang your hat on a day that millions of people have before only to fail at their resolution? People who smoke will typically cling to this one. For the last few months or weeks of the year you’ll hear a lot of smokers say “I’m getting it in before I quit for New Year’s”. Then they’ll not think twice about smoking come January 1st. The deal with some is that they WILL quit. They’ll not smoke for a while, but they’ll be smoking before Valentine’s Day. If someone survives the winter then it’s smooth sailing, it’s just not likely.
(THREE) EAT LESS/EXERCISE MORE
The diet and exercise thing is just like the smoking thing. It’s one of the cliché resolutions that lame people will go with. The holidays are a horrible time for anyone on a diet, but that doesn’t mean you have to jump into the game of “Come New Year’s I’m going to go on a diet and join a gym!” Good luck with that.
(TWO) GET A BETTER JOB
Why not? In today’s economy getting A job is not just a resolution, but a must. Those who do have jobs want better jobs and those who don’t have jobs want any job that fits their skill levels. People should always be open to any opportunity that comes their way, but also be seeking what they can to get wherever they want to go.
(ONE) THE ANTI-RESOLUTION!
No matter what my personal goals are or aren’t, the “anti-resolution” is the way to go. My resolution is to NOT have a resolution. There is nothing to “resolute” and no reason to wait until a new year. A “new year”, at least in the hypothetical sense, can start any day you want it to. Carve your path and let the lameos have fun with their mediocre “New Year’s” resolution.
