(FOUR) LOUIS CK
Louis is the biggest and best thing in comedy right now. It won’t last forever. He’ll always put out great stuff and be loved and respected, but the novelty of new will wear off. When you’re as bad ass as Louie you just keep going. He’s too cool to host the Oscars. You know he doesn’t give a shit about any of the award show stuff and that’s why I think it would be fun to see it happen. It would have been like seeing Carlin host the Oscars. So with this pick I’m hoping that it comes in time. I know Louis CK is busy with his own stuff right now, but in five or so years a Louis CK would be hilarious on this.
(THREE) LARRY DAVID
Why not? Like Louis CK, he’s the type of person that doesn’t give a shit about award show hoopla. At the same time, he has proven on his own show that he can and will be a showman when the time calls for it. Larry has that old school Warner Brothers, Marx Brothers, Woody Allen, and Mel Brooks timing, but the sensibility of today. I doubt this would ever happen, but it’s worth hoping for.
(TWO) JIMMY FALLON
This seems like a really logical pick. Fallon has hosted plenty of big events before and seems to be getting groomed for the Tonight Show gig. His show is popular, he gets great guests, and you just know he’d bust his ass and give his all for the show. I’m almost certain that Fallon will host the Oscars before it’s all said and done.
(ONE) SARAH SILVERMAN
Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, and other more current comedians and performers have hosted this show. I would LOVE to see Sarah Silverman host the Oscars. Besides being one of the funniest female performers of all time, she’s currently one of the very best stand-up comedians and comedic performers out there right now. She can sing, be funny, be charming, and carry a show. She can be a little brass and vulgar, but I think she could scale it back for something like this. And if she didn’t, even better.
