(FOUR) CACTUS JACK VS. KEVIN STEEN
Kevin Steen is doing great things in the indies and will have a great career if he keeps up this momentum. He brings a flare of old school ECW back to the indies, but in a completely accessible and modern way. He’s slowly becoming one of the first real cult heroes of the indies of this decade. Others almost get to that status and either fall off or get signed up. This is what Foley was doing as Cactus Jack. Cactus Jack was a cult hero in the “tape trading era” of indie smarkdom. These two would kill each other, but only after making us go crazy from the tension and the promos leading up to it.
(THREE) SANDMAN VS. UNDERTAKER
Imagine Austin vs. Taker, but Austin is drunk, stoned, and not a redneck. For some reason this match was always a match I wanted to see. It’s a weird pairing, but I think it would make for fun television. The Undertaker is this undead monster who cannot be put away and Sandman is an alcoholic, cigarette smoking, cane swinging dude who didn’t care about his well-being all that much. The dynamic of Undertaker taking on the everyday man would be really cool.
(TWO) THE ROCKERS VS. HARLEM HEAT
The Rockers were a kick ass team and way before their time. They had a good run in the WWE, but they never really got to wrestle anyone outside of that comfort zone. The same was pretty much to be said with Harlem Heat. While their run was way more impressive, they never got to do anything out of WCW. This would be an energetic match and would have blown some minds in the early 90s.
(ONE) BRET HART VS. DANIEL BRYAN
This would be a technical classic for sure. Imagine a healthy and motivated face Bret Hart in his prime taking on a bad ass heel Daniel Bryan. This would be amazing. Bret Hart put on some great matches when he got to work with folks that were closer to his level. He made good matches great and great matches stuff I’ll never forget to this day. Daniel Bryan is for sure on Hart’s level. He’s in the same boat on just about everything. He makes people look better and is always going put on a great performance displaying wrestling the way it should be. He’s the ultimate utility man in wrestling. He can main event, mid card, tag team, and go at it back and forth with the new guys. These two in the same ring, with a good story leading up, and some time to work a good match would most likely result in a “BMOAT” discussion. That’s “Best Match of All Time”…
