(FOUR) BIGGEST MOUTHS = LITTLEST BRAINS
If you’re into watching shoot tapes, reading interviews, or wrestling news in general you’d notice a pattern. There is a core group of current and former professional wrestlers and people in the business who are ALWAYS talking. These people, for whatever reason, are always the ones we hear about. At the same time, with twitter and facebook it has opened up a whole can of worms. It’s pretty obvious, that for the most part, that the people who speak the most and stir the most shit are the ones that shouldn’t be representing wrestling… or humanity.
(THREE) OVERZEALOUS CLAPPERS
I have no problem with fans cheering, booing, chanting, or clapping. It’s an important part of the show. My issue is the overzealous clappers. After a big move, folks will clap. But it seems more and more clapping is happening and less and less clap-worthy moments are happening. Some people like the sound of their own voice so I suppose people could just like the sound of their own clap? Is THAT what it is?
(TWO) BAD MUSIC
The WWE recently had Nickelback as the theme music of Monday Night RAW. How out of touch is that? Sadly, most wrestling folks seem to like generic rock music, shitty rap, and soulless dance music. They bring in Kid Rock, Diddy, pop stars, and people like that for a reason. While a lot of people aren’t into it, like myself, there are TONS of people who do. There is a reason these acts are crazy successful. Sadly, wrestling fans and wrestling in general is probably a decent chunk of their demographic.
(ONE) TABOO OF BEING A FAN
Being a “gamer” is cool now. Being a comic book nerd is fine. You can be a “nerd” now and have no shame because it’s the fashionable thing to do. It’s not a bad trait or anything, but I’d like some equality. I’d like the idea of being a wrestling fan to be as glamorized in the same light. What’s the harm? It’s still a kid’s product that adults enjoy. Instead people give you have awkward look, bring up their little brother watching it back in the day, and never fully accept it. Wrestling fans unite. Stop letting the weirdoes represent us.
