(FOUR) MEMORBILIA
When you’re a fan of a show where men fight and battle it out for a shiny gold belt you probably have something inside you that values “treasures” and “keepsakes”. As a wrestling fan you have the chance to get your hands on tons of memorabilia. Outside of the crazy amount of shirts they’ve put out over the years, there are TONS of interesting things collectors can get. They have the figures, the books, plagues, the DVDs, special sets, and don’t get me started on WrestleMania nonsense. Wrestling fans get milked on the reg.
(THREE) THE TAG ROPE
This is one of those simple pleasures of mine. The “art” of tag team wrestling is either dieing or on its way back up depending on who you ask. The teams of yester year are ALWAYS better than the teams out right now. It’s just one of those wrestling things we have to accept. Tag team wrestling is still very important if it’s pushed that way. It’s just a different way to get a crowd’s money and sometimes that variety is really crucial. For the longest time you’d not see a tag rope in the corner. A tag rope is what you’re supposed to hold when you’re waiting outside to be tagged. Good guys do it and bad guys don’t. It’s just a little detail in the pageantry that the anal retentive fans like me focus on a little too much.
(TWO) VEHICLE DESTRUCTION
For some reason we’re supposed to accept that people can destroy eachother’s cars and property in wrestling and have no legal ramifications. Steve Austin, DX, and nWo have to be responsible for at least three car lots alone! This was big in the late 90’s and early 00’s, but I suppose it’s been around for a while. It’ll still pop up now and then, but it’s not as crazy as it used to be. It’s just so stupid and pointless that if you don’t embrace it you’ll freak out.
(ONE) THE HYPOTHETICAL ENTRANCE MUSIC
I know I’m not alone on this. Even before my own short stint in wrestling, I was always thinking about what I’d want to use for MY entrance music in wrestling. It’s just one of those things. You’ll be out and about and hear the opening riff of a song you’ve heard a million times and start to visualize the “break” to enter to think how it would be awesome for a made up character, yourself, or even as an alternative choice to a favorite on TV. I’m fairly certain I’m an adult now and I’ll still hear a song and the thought will cross my mind.
