(FOUR) PEANUT BUTTER TWIX BARS
These might be out there, but it’s pretty much too late to REALLY indulge. Back in the day these things were awesome. It’s your normal TWIX bar, but instead of caramel it’s peanut butter! It sounds simple, but the combination of ingredients resulted in carbo-crack. They were so delicious and great that I think I blacked them out until recently. I need to find these and hoard them for the choc-pocolypse.
(THREE) SPORTSMART
I think it’s “Sports Authority” now, but screw that noise. Sportsmart was THE sports store when I was a kid. Maybe it’s just my location, but I know when I needed gym shoes, equipment, or even a ref shirt I’d have no problem going into Sportsmart and taking care of that need. The store just felt more inclusive and closer to a small business than other places that actually were small businesses.
(TWO) THE PAPER FOOTBALL
I’ve not made a paper football in years, but I wonder if kids are still making them. They have so much to already distract themselves with. They have cellphones and things like that. I don’t think the art of folding paper into a little triangle just so you can flick it back and forth at each other’s faces with open-hand “goal posts”. The art of origami is a valued tradition and it seems to keep getting passed on. What about the AMERICAN origami?
(ONE) GENERIC SWEET TARTS IN COOL CONTAINERS
I may have mentioned this before, but old school junk was better. Candy used to be almost experimental. You’d see random crap show up in the check-out aisles, in gas stations, and in random places all the time. One thing that stands out is the random generic Sweet Tarts. They were dry and sometimes flavorless, but they came in awesome containers. No matter the crap content inside, you’d be able to buy little hard plastic trash cans, little lunch boxes, heads of monsters, lockers, beepers, and many many more. We didn’t have the internet. This was all we had… eating trash-shaped sugar candy.
