(FOUR) AGGRESSIVE PODCASTS
I’ve not gotten into all wrestling podcasts, but there seems to be a common theme. The hosts generally love wrestling, but they love bitching about wrestling just as much. Nothing is ever “good”. There is always a better idea. It’s just a constant stream of pessimistic and grumpy sad people. Then there are those who are in the business who put out podcasts and it varies. Some guys will completely open up and some will still do a weird worked-shoot-persona thing. Regardless, it’s like listening to an angry preacher preaching to an angry choir. It comes down to the point that you want to ask these people why do they even watch anymore? It’ll NEVER be good enough for you. Who are you kidding?
(THREE) UNCALLED FOR PERSONAL HATE
So many people hate Vince McMahon without ever meeting him. They’ve heard he’s a horrible person and don’t like certain aspects of the product so they automatically blame Vince and think he’s being malicious to specifically piss THEM off. It’s the same with Triple H, Vince Russo, Hogan, Bischoff, John Cena, and others who get constant hate. These guys are blamed for everything that has ever gone wrong in wrestling. And people get PERSONAL. It’s a deep personal hate. People are dumb. At worse, these guys made business decisions you didn’t like about a business THEY are invested in, not you.
(TWO) SOUR GRAPES SHOOT TAPES
A lot of former WWF or WCW or ECW employees will get paid a few hundred bucks and sit down with a camera man and shoot the shit. They’ll “tell it like it is” and tell everyone the shoot side of how things are. These tapes only serve one side. It’s never anyone’s fault but the bookers and guys ahead of them in the ranking. It’s the point now where you can’t take ANY wrestler seriously. It’s fun to watch shoot tapes of people who hate each other and swear they’ll kill the person only to work with them five years after the tape is out. Shoot tapes are a work.
(ONE) FAN CENSORSHIP
This sucks. When a fan takes a sign to a show the company CAN take it. It happens all the time. Some people will try to use the chance to advertise themselves, some use bad language, and some are just vulgar. The problem is that the company will also censor signs that have different opinions than the ones they want to present on their show. I’m surprised the WWE doesn’t ban signs and sell their own produced signs at the merch tables. You know it’s been considered!
