(FOUR) CONQUERED SNL… QUIT SNL
Bob wrote for Saturday Night Live. He didn’t just write there, but he he wrote there when the show was in the “second golden age” with Farley, Sandler, Hartman, etc. He stayed until he realized he wanted to focus on being a performer. He wrote there from 1987 to 1991, just long enough to give us a handful of awesome sketches including the iconic and potentially best sketch of all time, “Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker”. Thanks Bob!
(THREE) AND DAVE!
In 1995 the show “Mr. Show with Bob and Dave!” debuted on HBO. What Nirvana was to grunge music, this show was to “alternative comedy”. So many of who rocks today was on this show. The show had a huge cult following and had one of the most entertaining linking plot-lines of any sketch show. All masterminded by Bob and David Cross. These two would pretty much become the “alt comedy duo” and put a lot of laughs out there. Both would have awesome careers by themselves, but together there is some kind of magic.
(TWO) DIRECTOR TOO!?
Yeah, Bob directs. Most people probably know his work in “Let’s Go To Prison” because the movie is on cable almost on a loop. He’s also directed a few other movies that didn’t get as much replayable love in “Melvin Goes to Dinner” and the massively underappreciated “The Brothers Solomon”.
(ONE) SAUL
He is most known as “Saul Goodman” on Breaking Bad. It’s not that he’s type casted as a sleazy lawyer, he was just on one of the greatest shows of all time. As Saul he brought a snarky comedic relief to the show in times the show REALLY fucking needed it. Everyone just loved to hate the guy. He was just a loud and bad person that you have no choice but to appreciate because of how amusing he was. He rocked the character SO much that this serious drama is said to be getting a spin off show. Bob can’t be stopped.
