"Top 4 WWE VS TNA Dream Matches 2010"
8/7/10
BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

DISCLAIMER: I’m avoiding TNA wrestlers who have spent the better years of their career in WWE. Since they’ve left there’s probably not many matches I’d like to see anyway. What is there Swagger vs. Angle? Hall vs. Barrett? I’m cool on those right now. And the fact that I’m only going with four matches so that means some talented wrestlers are being left out. This means I have to snub Edge, Orton, Bourne, Punk, the Hart kids, Miz, and others from WWE and on the TNA side we could have used Samoa Joe, Desmond Wolfe, Beer Money, Homicide, and Jay Lethal. For arguments sake, I like these four matches better. And keep in mind, over the last three months I’ve watched less than three hours of WWE and even less TNA.

(FOUR) KOFI KINGSTON & JOHN MORRISON VS. MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS
I know they’re not a “real tag team”, but who else is there? The Harts are boring and not that good yet and I’ve not seen the Usos in action. To me, Kofi and Morrison are the two best young athletes in WWE. Both could be World Title holders in the future. People are quick to be on Miz’s junk, and fast to say Morrison sucks on the mic but there’s a huge difference. Miz gets to be a heel. When Morrison and Miz were heels together, Morrison outshined Miz in pretty much every promo they had. On the TNA side, I love me some MCMG. Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin have come together and formed one of the most entertaining and fun to watch tag teams in awhile. They remind me of Edge and Christian, but with their own X-Division style twist. This match could steal any show it’s on and in most cases it’d probably go on first. Kofi and Morrison are future PPV Main Eventers, but MCMGs are a real tag team and have that on the WWE duo. It’d still be a hot match.

(THREE) CHRIS JERICHO VS. AJ STYLES
Styles has made himself and off again/on again/off again poster boy for TNA. It seems like every time TNA was to refresh their company or go “in a completely new direction” they put the belt on AJ and let him run with it. It’s because he’s the most dependable and the best wrestler in the TNA roster. He is TNA’s go-to safe pick. He can be in the Main Event, mid card, X-Division, or in a random feud but there is always a solid chance that his match will be the best of show each and every night. This is pretty much how WWE treats Jericho too. Jericho is their go-to guy. Outside of Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho has to be the most consistent wrestler of the decade. He’s always putting out Match of the Nights no matter what level of card he’s on. Both guys can fly, mat wrestle, tell a story, and get crowds on the edges of their seats. Some matches you think, “Hey, this might steal the show”. For something like this we’d have to be thinking, “I am about to watch the Match of the Year”.

(TWO) UNDERTAKER VS. ABYSS
The main criticisms of the Abyss character have always been that the attire and persona was a Kane and Mankind rip off. And really, it’s not an easy stance to argue against. Sure he’s developed a little more “personality” while in the program with Hogan, but in the end the mask, the hair, the personality, the “demons”, and all that jazz is a WWE style gimmick. Specifically the styles that Foley made famous with Mankind and Kane has for years. I’m sure the “crazy masked guy” gimmick has been done a million times, but it is what it is. And the main think Kane and Mankind have in common was that their careers were made by working with The Undertaker. The Undertaker is one of those cheesy characters that everyone just kind of lets slide because how of how great he works the gimmick and the longevity of it all. The other crazy characters, the evil ones, the masked wacky ones, and the freak shows are perfect to feud with Taker. It’s a proven fact. Taker vs. Abyss would be good stuff. Taker would “make him famous” and with the experience Abyss has from working with Foley, Hogan, Raven, and Jeff Yardy will only make this match up even more epic.

(ONE) TRIPLE H VS. STING
For ever and a day ago, I’ve said Sting vs. Shawn Michaels was one of my dream matches. Some people think Taker and Sting would have been great and who am I to argue? I’d rather see Taker against Abyss and would of loved Michaels and Sting. Now that Michaels is retired, I’m subbing him out for Triple H. John Cena may be the face of WWE, but Triple H is the backbone of which the company stands. This is the same role that Sting held for years in WCW. Triple H has held the World Title A LOT OF TIMES. Not because he’s married into the company, but honestly because he is the best overall wrestler in the business. He can put on good and compelling matches, he has “the look”, he is charismatic, marketable, and can own the crowd as either a heel or face. In many ways, Triple H is the modern day Ric Flair. Sting carried WCW for years before Hogan got there. Then once nWo started, Sting turned into “The Crow” and made even MORE money. Triple H vs. Sting could Main Event any show it was on, or at least should.
