BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER
(FOUR) BO BURNHAM
Dude just turned 20 and is one of the most up and coming stand ups out there. He’s a musical comic in the same way Andy Samberg and Sandler are and is building a huge fan base. He rose to fame by posting a few You Tube videos and going from there. He’s hilarious, witty, and knows what’s up when it comes to a younger mind set. SNL could really benefit from a guy of his mindset.
(THREE) MARTIN STARR
I can see people arguing about this pick. Martin Starr has had a lot of supporting roles on two cult television shows(“Freaks and Geeks”, “Party Down”) and has been in some well known movies (“Knocked Up”, “Adventureland”, etc). I know this, but I just think he’d be great on SNL. He’s had a pretty awesome line of appearances in a lot of cool projects, but on SNL he’d rock. He’s only 28, so it’s not that bad. If Michael C. Hall can join the SNL cast after “Breakfast Club” then Martin Starr can join after “Knocked Up”. It would be an interesting dynamic that I have a feeling would result in awesomeness.
(TWO) TREVOR MOORE
The guy’s sketch comedy has made me laugh more than anything SNL has put on in the past few years. Every Digital Short has nothing on that near flawless first season of “The Whitest Kids U’ Know”, where is a founder, actor, writer, director, and producer of. So yeah, he’s got his own thing going. The show is on IFC really late at night like 9 days a week. I love “The Whitest Kids” and I think I’ve seen every episode about a half dozen times by now, but I’d love to see Moore on a bigger stage.
(ONE) MORGAN MURPHY
If you’ve seen Morgan Murphy’s stand up then you know she’s perfect for the Saturday Night Live. She started on the LA comedy scene while still a student at Loyola. Soon after graduating she appeared on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend”, Kimmel, Carson Daly, and other places. She ended up getting a writing gig on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” but is now writing for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”. With her already being perfect for the show (seriously, check her stand up out) and the writing credits it’s safe to assume she could easily fit in as a writer on the show, but I think she’d be a strong performer.
