(FOUR) KOFI KINGSTON
(Prediction: Before Royal Rumble 2012) I’m sure many would say that Kofi’s push has come and gone, but I think he’s still got plenty of great matches, great pops, and moments ahead of him. To me, he and Morrison are the two main reasons to watch WWE anymore. They’re two of the few people who still manage to pull something new out and make me say “wow”. I think Kofi is still a little ways away. If this was 2006-2007ish Smackdown, he’d be champion for sure. A Kofi vs. JBL feud would have done the trick for him. Right now the main thing holding him back is his lack of program. If they gave him a chance to run a storyline/feud with someone for six months and give a good focus on it then we’d be money. If he’s going to stay on Smackdown then I’d have to say him and Punk would be a good one. The energy, response, and work put in against Orton during his only real feud was pretty awesome. It might have been a little too early, but it did show some signs of what could happen in the future. I think he’s ready.
(THREE) JOHN MORRISON
(Prediction: Before Survivor Series 2011) FINALLY. It’s great to finally see Morrison getting attention. Flat out, he’s the most athletic and entertaining wrestler on any show right now. The fact that Jericho is going out of his way to work with him and in result get him over says a lot. Morrison often gets trashed on for his promo work, but what do you expect? He’s a great heel. When they teamed Morrison and Miz up, Morrison was CLEARLY the better man on the mic. We already know he’s the better wrestler. Again though, with Jericho giving him a good run it should open up some eyes. Morrison needs a main event rub very badly. Now that it’s happening it’s only a matter of time before he gets the super push. It could happen sooner than Survivor Series 2011, but I think that’s easily enough time to get him in a few solid programs and properly build him up. If they hot shot the title on him it could hurt him more in the long run than a good old fashion casual push. If you’re wondering what happens when you hot shot a World title on someone then look no further than Jack Swagger.
(TWO) WADE BARRETT
(Prediction: Before Summerslam 2011) It’s got to happen. Wade has all the ingredients to be a solid and very fresh champ. I think he’d be better off with a gradual push, but it’s obvious the WWE is all about this guy. They’re striking the iron while it’s hot and in this odd NXT/Nexus circumstance I can accept it. He’s already in the main event and hanging with the top guys. A Wade Barrett/Triple H feud would be money. A Wade Barrett/Orton feud would be money. A Wade Barrett/Undertaker feud would be money. Wade Barrett is in the same boat as Sheamus, but is a better wrestler and better on the mic. The only think Sheamus has on him right now is that he has a bit more “ring presence” to him. But I recall he started off WAY worse than Barrett. So if he could get it, there’s no reason Barrett can’t. He’s doing well against Cena right now and I think he has a lot more up his sleeve that we still haven’t seen yet.
(ONE) THE MIZ
(Prediction: Before Royal Rumble 2011) I’m not nearly as big on The Miz as a lot of people are. To me, his matches are weak and his mic skills are obvious. It’s like he was locked in a room with a WCW Jericho DVD and was only allowed to watch the promos. I harp on the promos because that’s all he’s got. He cuts a promo and the crowd eats it up and hates him. So I’d be lying if I said he didn’t have awesome charisma and presence because that part of him is obvious. The other obvious part is that WWE is high as hell on him. He’s one of the most over people in wrestling right now. He may not win the title when he cashes in his MITB briefcase, but he’s going to get himself a big shiny belt in no time. I say Rumble 2011, but it could very well happen soon than that… much sooner.
