(FOUR) PATTON OSWALT
There is just something about this guy that’s kind of likeable. I’m not saying he should take over hosting the Tonight Show or anything like that, but why can’t he have a half hour talk show? I’d love to see Patton as the Carson Daly to Conan and Lopez’s Leno and Fallon. He’d still be on before Craig and Jimmy went off and would be fun. I know he’s slowly getting out there more. I loved his stuff in “Big Fan”, a VERY underrated movie and he’s enjoyable in his minimal part in “Tara” over on cable… but let’s give him a show. He’s a self proclaimed nerd and knows his nerdy shit. I could imagine a nerdy talk show going over very well, especially during late late night. It could be like the straight man’s Chelsea Handler Show!
(THREE) DR. DREW PINSKY
I know he already had his own talk show with Love Line and all that good stuff. And I know he has his “Sober House” and other Celeb train wreck shows on VH1, but he’d be a good talk show host. I’d much rather listen to Dr. Drew tell people they’re f*ck ups than Dr. Phil. Why VH1 hasn’t already attempted this is beyond me.
(TWO) BILL CLINTON
The former President of the United States of America is still pretty loved and just as charismatic and awesome as he always was. It’s been awhile since he’s had a lot of public spotlight and now that his wife is doing the political gigs, why not? Clinton is a hit on every talk show he appears on and is one of the smartest men in the world. I’m sure he could charm himself through a monologue, but it’s not what I see for him. I could totally see Bill hosting a Larry King type of show. No BS, just talking, discussing, and banter. Like a Daily Show for adults...
(ONE) ALEC BALDWIN
It’s said that he’s leaving 30 Rock in a season or two… then what? Alec Baldwin is too much awesome to let sit on the shelf. I say ditch Leno and give The Tonight Show to Alec Baldwin. If Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey have any pull at NBC this will happen and all will be good in the world. I think the problem here is that Mr. Baldwin probably doesn’t want a gig like that and would need some convincing. It needs to be done.
