BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER
(FOUR) JEFF RICHARDS
[2001-2004]He is the first person to cross the company line and to appear on both SNL and MAD TV. He was featured more on MAD TV and got more camera time. Sadly by watching it you can clearly see why he wasn’t featured the same on SNL. He just wasn’t all that good. On SNL all I remember him doing was the “Drunk Girl” character during the Weekend Update. It was funny because it was a guy dressing up like a (insert type here) girl! Before and since… I have never seen that formula used.
(THREE) HORATIO SANZ
[1998-2006]Sanz seems like a cool guy. In interviews he is likeable and fun. My main problem is that he was in a handful of great sketches, but instead of holding up his end he would giggle. For a few years, I hated SNL because of Sanz and Fallon. No matter what or how lame a joke was they’d giggle at themselves. It took you out of the sketch and grew lame over time. To be fair, Fallon would probably of made the list too if he didn’t have great delivery and work on Update.
(TWO) DEAN EDWARDS
[2001-2003]I’ve seen Dean Edwards be funny. It just wasn’t on SNL. In fact, Dean Edwards ranks so high because for the life of me, I can’t remember him in ANYTHING. I don’t know what’s worse, being on the show and sucking or being on the show and not remembered at all. I consider myself a pretty big fan of SNL so me not remembering him says a lot.
(ONE) JAY MOHR
[1993-1995]Jay Mohr sucks. There is no way around it. I have never seen him in a television show, a movie, or anywhere at all for that matter where I laughed or was even amused. He is a succubus of humor. Most of his roles consist of him playing a snarky/sarcastic douche bag. He is like if Dennis Leary and Vince Vaughn had a kid and left at the Jersey shore. And to make it even worse, he’s a bit of a bitch. In 2004 he put out a book whining about not getting his chance on SNL. The sad part is that I’ve seen him in a lot of stuff that I typically like, but him showing up almost instantly ruins it.
