(FOUR) LINKIN PARK
It was like one of the band members were at a party where a Korn CD and a Eminem CD were being played at the same time. The said band member was like “this shit is dope, son” and the rest is history. At first it was interesting. Their early music had some edge to it but they’re as radio friendly as they come. It’s the teen angst music for douche bags of all ages.
(THREE) LIL WAYNE
I guess he’s a “musician”. The product he sells is sold at music stores at least. He went from being a half way decent rapper to being a joke. The problem is that the joke is on anyone and everyone who is a fan of his music or takes him serious in any amount. He’s “vocals” are computerized and guised as “style” while his demeanor and style is a cross between a bad Tupac parody meets a pretty good Lil John impression.
(TWO) MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
One part Bowie, one part Manson, mix, and stir gently with a pot full of Hot Topic clothing. That’s just the image they’ve been going for. There’s nothing original, fun, or interesting about My Chemical Romance. It’s Blink 182 for emo kids. The music is lame, the lyrics last substantial substance, and their whole package is as factory made as a late 90’s boy band. This is another case of the masses fall for uninspired bullshit because MTV and the radio told them to.
(ONE) KINGS OF LEON
Can a band still be a “one hit wonder” while STILL being a long time indie favorite? Kings of Leon proves this possible. Their first two albums were experimental, inspired, and good old fashion rock music. Then out of nowhere the entire domestic drinking community up and decided that “Use Somebody” was a good song. It’s the mellowest dramatic faux-soul trite bullshit I’ve heard in my entire life. It’s a song made for soft rock stations to play in between Maroon 5 and Michael Bolton songs. You just know that’s killing their old school fan base. The band basically sold itself out to be a one hit wonder.
