(FOUR) EARLY INFLUENCE
At an early age, Tina was not allowed to watch The Flintstones. No, it wasn’t the provocative nature of exposed knees and bare feet but rather the fact that her dad hated it because it ripped off The Honeymooners. Her parents were comedy fans. They snuck her into see Young Frankenstein, and watched SNL, Monty Python, and old Marx Brothers with her. So it’s pretty safe to say they were supportive of her career choices.
(THREE) DAY JOB
Back when she was at Second City in Chicago, she needed a day job to make ends meet. She worked at the front desk of a YMCA to pay for her classes.
(TWO) IMPROV
Her first love was improv. She trained at Second City and was addicted. She said it was “like one of those athletes trying to get into the Olympics. It was all about blind focus. I was so sure that I was doing exactly what I was put on this earth to do, and I would have done anything to make it onto that stage. Not because of SNL, but because I wanted to devote my life to improve. I would have been perfectly happy to say at Second City forever.” She’d go onto join the cast of The Second City and toured for two years before moving on to, well… you know.
(ONE) LOVES FOOD
She makes a lot of food-loving jokes on 30 Rock and isn’t shy about the fact that she’s a “foodie”. In 2007 she was a guest judge on Iron Chef America. She was also cast as a giant burrito in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. She loves food so much that she wants EVERYONE to eat. She is a known supporter of Mercy Corps, a global relief organization. She narrated a video for them about how hunger is a problem across the globe. Word up, giant burrito lady. Word up.
