I want to see this movie. I’m a huge fan of Michael C. Hall, Sarah Silverman, and Rainn Wilson. Each of those three are pretty much enough to get me to watch anything on their own. Together with support from Judy Greer, Alicia Witt, and Stephen Tobolowsky makes this a movie that I’m just about positive I’ll have interest. That’s the problem with a movie like this. The cast has such awesome past credits that my expectations are kind of high. I’m going to most likely enjoy the movie on at least one level because I enjoy everyone’s work, but the narrative, characters, direction, and everything else is really what creates a movie. The trailer sets up a plot of a family dealing with one of them writing a book about the rest of the family. It’s not a big plot or anything. This is obviously an indie flick that’s going to push the pages with human nature over pratt-falls. The dinner scene automatically reminds me of Rachel Getting Married. The siblings of it remind me of The Royal Tenebaums. While I’m a big fan of what I’m comparing it to, I really do want it to be its own equally as awesome thing. I’m optimistic as hell, but I’m afraid I’m crossing into the too high of expectations area. I’m going to have to put in a lot of effort to step back from my brain and try to just enjoy it for what it is.
