I’ve been reading a lot about this movie and the director Steve McQueen. No, not THAT Steve McQueen… a nerdy hipster guy who’s the new “it guy” in the indies. The plot line is: “Brandon is a 30-something yuppie living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life and urges. After his wayward younger sister moves into his apartment, Brandon’s world spirals out of control.” Wow… that’s different. Michael Fassbender is the dude and the sister is played by the lovely Carey Mulligan. It’s not a big budget movie or anything. Fox bought it for only 400K, but the buzz and hype will pull in the fans and critics. I guess the big deal is that it’s a NC17 movie because of how “explicit” it is. Whatever get’s the buzz I guess. The direction and look of this movie is really interesting and well done. I want to see the movie based on direction alone. The creepy erotica is just bonus. Why do I get an “American Psycho” vibe from the trailer though? Is that sort of exciting unease what they’re going for? I could ask a few dozen rhetorical questions after seeing this short teaser trailer. I can say for sure though, I do want to see this. Explicit, creepy, artsy, and independent are right up my alley. Count me in…
