If you've seen "Anchorman" then you've already seen a good portion of this movie. The entire movie is made up of dropped subplots, scenes, and characters from the original movie. It's been called an "alternative movie". The biggest difference here is that instead of the panda birth story from the original, in this one there's a group of bank robbing "revolutionaries" called "The Alarm Clock". "The Alarm Clock" group featured Kevin Corrigan and Maya Rudolph and was pretty damn entertaining. I've heard different stories about how and why this movie was made. One is that "The Alarm Clock" storyline didn't test well so they replaced it. Another is that they shot two subplots and went with the panda one instead. Then I even heard they went back and reshot scenes so they could make an extra movie to make more cash. Who knows? I am a huge fan of Kevin Corrigan and wish he'd get more large roles. Why he's not had his own Apatow or McKay vehicle is beyond me. I did enjoy the original Anchorman a lot more, but this movie wasn't bad at all. It felt grittier and more "out there". I'd give it a B+, but Anchorman is obviously an A. If you don't agree, you don't enjoy comedy and you should probably look into electroshock therapy.
